Get StartedNow we're going to look at the Venturi Mask. The Venturi Mask fits onto the face in the same way as any other mask really; it has the strap that goes around the back of the head with the adjusters on the front to give you a good seal. It's got two holes that normal air will go through into the mask when you breathe. It's also got a giving port where the oxygen is actually administered. And that port there, you have a selection of six different Venturis and each Venturi on the Venturi itself will give you a flow rate. And all they do is they push onto the bottom of the mask and then the actual oxygen tubing pushes on to the mask like so.And then it's coupled up to the piped-in oxygen or the oxygen in your bag. So now the insert regulates the amount of oxygen concentration that the mask gives the patient. If we only need to give them a little bit of a trickle it's a low volume. If it's more, it's a bigger volume. And all we do is select the volume that we require from the six inserts that we're given with every single mask. So the Venturi is designed to give various flow rates of oxygen to patients suffering with things like asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. And they go from four up to 35. We will look at oxygen flow rates for patients in a separate video, but remember the Venturis will match the flow rates that are given to you in your NHS paperwork or NHS training. But we'll look at that, as I said in a later video.
